A = Anticipate
Most people who begin smoking again
do so within the first 3 months. You can help yourself make it through by
preparing ahead for the challenges you will face such as nicotine withdrawal.
Get a nicotine patch. Instead of a smoke, chew on some healthy snacks instead,
like carrot sticks.

Start your stop smoking plan = START now
S = Set a goal.
Choose a date within the next 2
weeks from now, so you have enough time to prepare without losing your drive to
quit. If you mainly smoke at work, start your quit date on the weekend, so you
have a few days to adjust to the change.

Let everyone around you know about
your quitting plans. Tell them you will need their assistance in reminding and
encouraging you to keep with the plan. It’s surprising what a few encouraging
words can do! Find a quitting buddy too if you can, the two of you can help and
support each other through this time, and it is much easier to get through it
when you have a buddy by your side who knows what you’re going through.
